Physical Activity of Preschool Children in COVID-19 Pandemic: Focusing on Activity Content and Exercise Intensity during Childcare

The present study examined the relationship between children’s activities at a nursery school and amount of physical activity in COVID-19 pandemic obtained primary data to promote future childcare activities. Healthy preschool children aged 3 - 5 (N = 21) participated survey. Children wore an tracker (Polar, A360) on wrist non-dominant hand for three hours morning five days, just after state emergency was lifted. measurements included “activity time”, “moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA) “average heart rate (HR)”. time defined as with intensity over 60% HRmax (maximum rate). MVPA doing higher than 70% HRmax. From results this study, under pandemic, each day 37.8 ± 25.0 min 87.0 34.7 min, 4.7 6.3 33.7 26.1 average 111.3 7.3 bpm lowest 126.8 9.9 highest. In particular, MVPA, which is expected improve strength, approximately 15min five-day average, significantly shorter previous studies. Children’s health development athletic ability are hindered by insufficient opportunities exercise because current pandemic. Securing increasing should be considered increase childcare.
